ETHICS tests
Voluntary Testing and Certification for
External Thermal Insulation Systems
Our laboratory offers full testing and voluntary certification services for exterior thermal insulation systems (ETICS), including systems based on expanded polystyrene (EPS) and mineral wool (MW). We test according to European and national standards, ensuring the thermal, mechanical performance and durability of materials used in construction. We also carry out "on-site" tests to verify the correct application of ETICS systems in real conditions, thus guaranteeing effective implementation on construction sites.
Testing Services and Standard Requirements
Testing ETICS Systems Based on Expanded Polystyrene (EPS)
We test EPS-based ETICS systems according to the standard SR EN 13499:2004, providing detailed checks for various performance characteristics, including thermal, mechanical, and vapor permeability.
Threshold values of the performance characteristics:
- Thermal resistance: ≥ 1 m²K/W (according to EN ISO 6946 and EN ISO 10456)
- Adhesion strength of primer and adhesive: ≥ 80 KPa (according to SR EN 13494)
- Water permeability: < 0.5 kg/m²h⁰,⁵ (according to SR EN 1062-3)
- Impact resistance: No damage at 2 J in the field area and 10 J in the ground floor area (according to SR EN 13497)
- Reaction to fire: B-s2, d0 (according to SR EN 13501-1:2019)

Testing ETICS Systems Based on Mineral Wool (MW)
For systems based on mineral wool (MW), we align ourselves with the standard SR EN 13500:2004, evaluating thermal resistance, adhesion and behavior under the influence of external factors.
Threshold values of the performance characteristics:
- Thermal resistance: ≥ 1 m²K/W (according to EN ISO 6946 and EN ISO 10456)
- Adhesion strength of primer and adhesive: ≥ 60 KPa (according to SR EN 13494)
- Water and vapor permeability: < 0.5 kg/m²h⁰,⁵ and ≥ 40 g/m² day (according to SR EN 1062-3 and SR EN ISO 7783-2)
- Reaction to fire: A2-s1, d0 (according to SR EN 13501-1:2019)
"In situ" tests for the Applicability of ETICS Systems
Our laboratory also performs "in situ" tests, which ensure the correct application of ETICS systems directly in the field. These tests allow us to verify compliance with the technical specifications, guaranteeing the optimal performance of the systems in real working conditions.

Advantages of ETICS Testing
Voluntary certification
We offer voluntary certification is carried out with the body TÜV AUSTRIA Romania according to the standards SR EN 13499 and SR EN 13500, without requiring CE marking, but ensuring product compliance with quality requirements.
"in situ" tests
We ensure that ETICS systems are correctly applied in the field by monitoring compliance with installation procedures.
Fire protection and moisture control
We evaluate the reaction to fire and permeability to water and vapors, thus ensuring the durability of the system and protection against external factors.
